Meet Our Founder

Erik Papenfuss is a pioneering medical device engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur, dedicated to revolutionizing surgical efficiency and regenerative medicine. As the CEO and Founder of Medimetrix, Erik brings decades of expertise in medical device innovation, manufacturing, and engineering, with a focus on developing cutting-edge surgical tools that improve precision, streamline workflows, and enhance patient outcomes.

Before launching Medimetrix, Erik founded Lenkbar, LLC, a premier medical device design and engineering firm based in Naples, Florida. Under his leadership, Lenkbar became known for its groundbreaking advancements in flexible surgical instruments, including FlexMetric® technology—the strongest flexible shaft available today, widely used in a variety of medical applications. Erik holds more than 70 U.S. and international patents, making him one of the most influential innovators in the surgical device industry.

His most recent breakthrough, the Marrow Marxman® Bone Marrow Aspiration System, was developed in collaboration with Dr. Robert E. Marx. This revolutionary device enhances stem cell concentration during aspiration without requiring centrifugation, significantly improving efficiency in bone marrow harvesting and regenerative medicine procedures.

Erik’s journey by attending a Mechanical Engineering degree from Mercer University, earned through an academic and athletic scholarship. He refined his expertise through three rigorous four-year apprenticeships in tool and die making, molding, and medical instrument engineering. His deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in manufacturing have shaped his practical, surgeon-first approach to medical device design.

Prior to Lenkbar, Erik was co-owner and President of Hansa Medical, a leading medical device manufacturing company. His strategic vision and operational leadership led to its successful acquisition by the Pritzker family in 2011.

Now, through Medimetrix, Erik continues his mission to develop next-generation surgical tools that empower medical professionals, improve procedural efficiency, and deliver unparalleled patient care worldwide. His passion for innovation and commitment to solving real-world surgical challenges make him a driving force in the future of medical technology.
